I almost forgot to update tonight, whoops ^^;
I still haven’t written the beginning of the scene I was complaining about yesterday. Instead, I jumped into the middle of the scene and wrote… a very bad version of it that I will probably end up throwing out wholesale, but it forced me to think about what positions the characters would be in and how they’d try to react. It left me kind of dizzy by the time I stopped, still trying to figure out how to fix the scene, but after walking away for a bit I think I have a better idea of how to tackle it.
Which is, of course, much better than the sheer blankness my story brain was giving me before.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll start with a fresh document and retry the chapter from the beginning. Or maybe I’ll try typing up a chapter outline, point by point by point. There’s a lot to keep track of in the last half of the climax, here, especially given that this is the Final Boss Fight(tm) half of the climax, rather than the emotional half that I wrote a few days ago.
I’ve written so many fight scenes for this book, guys. Some are better than others. Future Jade is going to have an interesting time cleaning up the “others.”
