It’s 4:30 AM. I can’t be doing this. I was going to leave off at a perfectly respectable stopping point in the story. Now I have to stop writing here? At a point where, if I were reading, I’d just… finish the rest of the story regardless of what time it was?
You can’t do that when you’re writing, guys. It takes way longer to write than to read. I have to sleep eventually.
…speaking of which, I hope this section is as much of an emotional punch when I’m well-rested as it is at 4am. Sometimes you write something at night and the next morning it’s uhhhhh… not what you were aiming for xD

I took my parents’ dogs to get ice cream at Dairy Queen, and got myself a sandwich too. Came back and tinkered with my words some more. I know what’s supposed to happen next, and it’s not that there’s anything wrong with the scene I’ve planned, but my writer-brain’s being stubborn and won’t make new words happen.
…I’m bored. I need to find something else to do. The words machine will kick back on around 9pm, it’s fine.

I wrote the thing and finished the chapter! The… 4000 word long chapter o.o;;;; this may be one place where I revise the chapter breaks afterward.
I looked back in my WordPress revision history and discovered that this chapter took me three days to write, almost exactly. Oops. That means I’ve been teasing my beta readers with my various flailing and internet-shouting over a chapter they can’t read… for three days. Sorry, y’all ^^;
Sidenote: I’ve actually been keeping the pace I said I was going to keep during NaNo; the wordcount tracker I’ve been updating on the site tallies up about 6.5k, so I’ve been averaging 1k/day easily. I kept saying either 800-1000 or just 1000 per day, and I’ve hit both of those with room to spare. (Well, technically it’s day 7 now, but I’m also not done writing “today” yet.) It’s kind of nice knowing I can keep a steady pace, and knowing what that pace is.
My draft is less disorganized stream-of-consciousness than my late night blog posts, I promise :p

Fun fact: part of the reason it feels so cozy when it snows is that the snow muffles sound. This doesn’t necessarily mean, however, that your neighbors won’t hear whatever interesting words you say as you try to dig out your car.
